A Study of Nanocrystalline Cobalt Prepared by Ball Milling
نویسندگان
چکیده
The hcp-fcc transformation induced in cobalt powder by ball milling at room temperature was studied using the excess Gibbs free energy for the metals, in nanometric form, to calculate the activation barriers that the atoms must overcome for the phase transformation to occur. The crystalline component of the nanocrystaline cobalt produced in our laboratory, via ball milling, was analized using the radial distribution function technique. The results suggest that the crystalline component has the same structure as the bulk, contradicting results already reported.

Sintering and Characterizations of WC-20wt.% (Fe,Co) Nano-Structured Powders Developed by Ball-Milling
The aim of the present work is to study the effects of the nanostructured WC-20 wt. % (Fe,Co) with different ratios of iron to cobalt on the microstructure and hardness of sintered samples. Furthermore, a sample with a cobalt binder under the same condition was produced for the comparison purposes. The nanocomposite development, after different milling times, has been monitored by means of X-ra...
متن کاملSolubility Study in Ag-Cu Binary System Prepared By Ball Milling Process
Solid solutions of Ag-Cu were prepared via ball milling process, for about 5-30 h. The Cu-20at%Ag and Cu-3.64at%Ag composition were investigated by X-ray diffraction technique. It was realized that the solid solubility level could be increased by increasing the initial solute content in the mixture. In addition, shifts in peak positions of silver and copper were observed with milling time. The ...

The atomic-scale structure of nanocrystalline ZrO2 obtained by ball milling has been studied using highenergy x-ray diffraction and the atomic pair distribution function technique. The studies show that, upon relatively short milling times, the parent crystalline material, monoclinic ZrO2, evolves into a nanocrystalline phase that is locally similar to monoclinic zirconia but shows a cubic-type...

In this study, bulk ultrafine-grained and micro-crystalline cobalt was prepared using a combination of high-energy ball milling and subsequent spark plasma sintering. The average grain sizes of the ultrafine-grained and micro-crystalline materials were 200 nm and 1 μm, respectively. Mechanical properties such as the compressive yield strength, the ultimate compressive strength, the maximum comp...

Nanocrystalline magnesium ferrite is synthesized by high-energy ball milling. The formation of nanocrystalline ferrite phase is observed after 3 h of milling and its content increases with milling time. The structural and microstructural evolution of the nanophase have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction and the Rietveld method. After 3 h of milling, ferrite phase (mixed spinel) nucleates ...
